'The Association is founded on a unique lineage of Martial Art Masters. It's basis and values are pure and traditional with no modern influence'

Our Association promises to uphold the purity and pass on the knowledge of the time tested proven methods which were developed over the centuries. You will belong to a very special and unique fraternity of traditional Taiji practitioners.

Currently we are members of the BCCMA (British Council for Chinese Martial Arts) which is a regulating body for the various schools and associations running in the United Kingdom.

We offer a fully developed curriculum for all our practitioners eventually leading to instructor level. Our methods and goals are designed in mind to be as clear and obtainable to all practitioners. Therefore as a student you must identify your reasons for training and understand that the Association has a defined purpose and methodology for helping you achieve your potential.

Welcome to the Wu Style Hao Family Taijiquan Association. We hope you find this information useful in settling in to your new classes. The association is registered and recognized by the British Council for Martial Arts. All our members are registered with this regulating body and gain association benefits by having our membership.

Membership will normally be requested after 4 weeks of attendance, this gives you the opportunity to decide if it is a pursuit you which to embark on.

A syllabus is employed to advance the practitioner through the many facets that Taiji embodies, this is accompanied with an assessment structure so that the individual can demonstrate they have learnt what has been laid down.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, regular practice of Taiji is beneficial because it strengthens one’s mind (yi) and energy (jing) and allows one’s qi (life force) to increase and flow unimpeded through the body, ultimately transforming into spirit (shen).

More obviously, the benefits of Taijiquan can be appreciated at both a psychological and a physiological level:

- Psychologically, the mental component of the practice builds awareness and concentration.

- Physiologically, the correct practice of Taijiquan addresses the habitual tensing of the posture which restricts movement, disturbs balance, leads to low energy and, in the long term, chronic pain. As movement becomes freer and more relaxed, anxiety, stress and fatigue dissipate and greater vitality is experienced.

Integrating the mind and body through the practice of Taijiquan gives the practitioner a feeling of being grounded and powerful.
